COMMUNITY EXPECTATIONS

We call Boston Playwrights’ Theatre “a home for new works for the stage.” Our mission is about new plays, yes – and also about being a home. Upholding our space as a home for artists, staff, and audiences is an organizational value. To us, this means that everyone is invited to be fully present here, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect. We ask you to help us uphold these values and expectations in all of your interactions with Boston Playwrights’ Theatre.

We expect any person interacting with BPT to comply with these community expectations, including but not limited to:

  • Respecting the backgrounds and identities of all people, on and off our stages. This includes age, race, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

  • Understanding each individual’s right to be at the theater and enjoy it in their own way while being mindful of those around them.

  • Showing appreciation for the facility and those working within it.

We expect our artists, patrons, students, and staff to be respectful—and accountable. If you’ve experienced any behavior that has hindered your ability to be fully present during your time at BPT, we want to know about it. Please reach out to us – speak directly to a member of our FOH team, email Artistic Director Megan Sandberg-Zakian or use this anonymous Google form.

Thank you for partnering with us to truly make BPT a home for new work for the stage.
