HEALTH & SAFETY

Code of Courtesy

Boston Playwrights’ Theatre’s Code of Courtesy addresses public safety for all artists and visitors. Guidelines related to COVID-19 are in alignment with current health information from city and state officials, artist unions, and Boston University, and are subject to change accordingly.

We encourage all patrons and all artists to get vaccinated FOR FLU AND COVID-19.

Staying current on COVID-19 and flu vaccinations is the best way to protect yourself and others.

Masking is optional at most* BPT performances

With the exception of one “mask required” performance per show, masks are optional for audience members at BPT. Respect, however, is always required. Please refrain from questioning or offering an opinion to a BPT staff member, artist, or patron, on the choice to wear or not wear a mask. If you have a concern, please speak privately with a member of the Front of House staff. (*A few select performances require masks—these are always advertised in advance. During our Fall Rep, the mask required performance of Bezos will be on Saturday, Nov. 16; and for Soft Star on Saturday, Nov. 23. Both performances are matinees with a 2 p.m. curtain.)

Practice social courtesy by respecting others’ personal space

This is so important, especially in a small theater like ours with limited lobby and restroom space. Be aware of those around you. And if you find yourself feeling overcrowded or uncomfortable in our venue, please speak with Front of House staff to see if there is anything we can do to help.

Practice regular hand hygiene

Sanitizer is available in our lobby. Please use it! And wash your hands!

Clean air is healthy air

Our theatre’s HVAC system is using MERV 13 filters to clean the air as it circulates, and it is refreshing the space with outside air regularly. Portable HEPA filters are also providing supplemental air cleaning.

Feeling sick or have symptoms? Stay home!

If you are not feeling well or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 as defined by the CDC, have been exposed to anyone with the virus within the last 10 days, or have been advised to self-quarantine within the last 10 days, please delay your visit to a later time and contact us to discuss rescheduling options. BPT offers free, no hassle ticket exchanges to a date when you are feeling better (or a full refund, if that becomes necessary): newplays@bu.edu or 617-353-5443.
