K. ALEXA MAVROMATIS spent nearly a decade at digital design, marketing, and software development agency Shazamm, where she contributed to marketing and brand strategy for clients ranging from local start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. She led a number of project teams to industry award wins in website and interactive design including a Promax/BDA Design Award and a MerCom Mercury Award. Alexa also contributed the voice-over script for a multimedia piece that was the recipient of a Cable & Telecommunications Marketing/Multichannel News Mark Award. She joined the staff of Boston Playwrights’ Theatre—where she manages marketing and communications—in 2013.

Alexa’s short plays and one-acts—including The Stakeout (finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville’s Heideman Award), Bone China, Jinxed, Stew, SL1 12:32 a.m., Right-Justified (co-written with MJ Halberstadt), and True Blue (finalist for the Arts & Letters Prize for Drama)—have been produced throughout the U.S. and internationally. Her work has been published in anthologies and textbooks by Smith and Kraus and Bedford/St. Martin’s; Jinxed is available as an acting edition from Original Works Publishing. She is a member of New Perspectives Theatre Company’s 2020 Short Play Lab, where she is developing her play Foul Line.

Alexa’s full-length plays include The Back Room (third place winner of the David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award), Gravity, and Pirate Radio. She is a past playwriting fellow at New Repertory Theatre, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild, StageSource, and Rhombus Playwrights. Alexa earned her MFA in Playwriting at Boston University.
